GUIDELINES

Send us your best and most challenging work. We enjoy rich imagery, engaging form, and stirring content.
Please send all submissions in a readable font, such as 12 pt. Times New Roman. All submissions must be sent as a .doc or .docx attachment. Please include all pieces in one attached document.
Please send all works to milkjournalofficial@gmail.com.
The subject line of each submissions should read Genre: Submission. For example, if you are sending poetry, make sure the subject line reads, Poetry Submission.
Include a cover letter containing relevant author information and a short biographical statement along with your piece.
Simultaneous submissions are welcome! We’re writers, too. We know how long it takes to get responses. We know you want your work out there. Please notify us via our contact page immediately if your work is accepted elsewhere. We will continue to consider the rest of the submission if only certain works are withdrawn.
Unfortunately, we do not consider previously published material at this time. This includes works published to personal blogs and websites.
We strive for a quick turnaround time. Direct queries to the editors only if you have not heard from us after four months.

Please send up to five of your best poems in one document, each on a separate page. Submissions should not exceed 12 pages in length.

Please send a single story, piece or excerpt of up to 2,000 words. Flash fiction of at least 250 words is also accepted.

Please send submissions once per reading period.

Winter Issue: August 1st - November 30th.
Summer Issue: January 1st - June 30th.

Milk Journal acquires first-time North American rights to works published in print and digital format. After publication, all rights revert back to the author and works may be reprinted as long as proper acknowledgement is given to Milk Journal. Information provided to Milk Journal will never be shared with third parties.

Please send any number of original artistic works attached to an email. We are unable to consider works containing trademarked, recognizable characters and logos.
