Break Up Sex (or Michelangelo)
Sean Igoe
I spent years painting you a Sistine
Chapel on your apartment’s ceilings,
but had to stop eventually because
who was I kidding; I don’t paint shit
because I hate the way that paint smells
and how it cracks and dries out my skin
and the way it stays in my nailbeds,
but I was there on my back staring
up for years like I was on scaffolds
getting that angel’s body just right
and probably got lead poisoning
because of you, and I don’t want this.
